W.I.G. Communities Funding (WCF) is proud to have approved ANJALI House’s grant request of USD 1,440 to provide scholarships for 15 children through their Resilient Learners Program. This meaningful initiative will help children from vulnerable families continue their education in a safe and nurturing environment, giving them the opportunity to build confidence, resilience and hope for a brighter future.
For almost twenty years, ANJALI House has stood alongside some of Siem Reap’s most vulnerable families. While poverty too often forces children to leave school early, the organisation provides not only education and life skills, but also the encouragement, stability and sense of belonging that every child deserves.
From around 120 children in its early years, ANJALI House, since the last two years, supports approximately 500 children and young people each year through extracurricular education, scholarships and community programmes.
Today, many families in Siem Reap are struggling as tourism continues to recover from COVID-19 and is once again affected by the recent border conflict with Thailand. As household incomes decline, even a small contribution towards a child’s education has become difficult for many parents.
As little as these scholarships may seem, they will help keep children in school, giving them the chance to continue learning, dreaming and building a brighter future.
